Setting the Agenda

In this theory it tells us that the mass-news media have a large influence by their choices of what
stories to consider newsworthy and how much prominence and space to give them. It involves the theory's main postulate is the salience transfer. Salience transfer is the ability of the mass media to transfer issues of importance from their mass media agendas to public agendas. The mass media should provide their public about their main agenda so that they are aware of what is happening and can adopt to the changes and issues they are about to encounter. The public may be interested to the topic and maybe uncertainty. That is why they need for orientation from the media. In public relation it is very important for them to know the media agenda so that they can prevent any issues or problem they are about to encounter. In this way they can maintain their public image and gain public support. It is also very important for public relation to have an information about the issue of the media to have a clean public image.

Diffusing Information and Innovation

Based on the information from the book, this theory explain to us that media is a powerful tool in
providing and supplying information to the public. That is why they influence us and they are now part of our daily lives. Once media provide information, the public then react to that information and start conversation with other people. This leads to public attention. In that way information spread and influence the public. It is what we call diffusing information to others. We know that mass media affects our daily lives and more powerful. That is the reason why it is considered as part of our state. Mass media are the innovators who are the first to adopt information and once they shared it to the public, the public then react to this information and learn to adopt new information. The mass media and interpersonal communication interact in social systems and in social change. Innovation is a theory of how information, ideas and technology spread among the public.

Defining Social Support

In this theory it involves the theory "spiral of silence" which also means "silent majority". Opinion about certain issue, some will agree and some will disagree. People who are against with
other opinion are afraid to voice out so they tend to remain silent to avoid disagreement. They can't express their own opinion. In order to avoid this kind of conflict, social support is needed. It is the kind of support that refers to the help that others may offer through the provision of information. The mass media help the public to acquire social support. They let the public express their own opinion about various issues so that they will understand the real view of public about the issue. People, business, corporations make use of this in making adjustments and decisions through their public opinion.

Setting the Agenda

People say something about the media because the more they tent to get information, the stronger the opinions are of it. Media affects the public, especially the government. Because mass communication raising the issues positions taken by people who are exposed in the media . That is why the agenda setting tells about the opinion and feelings of every individual.

Diffusing Information and Innovation

On that particular topic it involves about how media affects the public and organization. Mass media provide information in any other sources like government, features, showbiz news and other important information that leads to the public attention. Especially when you provide information it must be an advantage situation that it has the impact in organization. However, the diffusion of information an innovation theory explains the facts accurately and shared new ideas. We learned from the mass media, once you've talked about the situation we begin conversation. For example the death of former President Cory Aquino, mass media catch the audience attention especially for the media practitioners because the former president was the first woman president, she declared the democracy for media practitioners to have a freedom of speech. That's why it's very important to us what happened on the country. Mass media and interpersonal communication interact in social system and in social change.

Defining Social Support

Not many people suggest their own opinion because of the other conflict opinions. Because sometimes individually don't recognize their social support. For example you are the big boss of the company and you have the members which is the part of your company. One of them shared their opinions, ideas about the product you are discussing. One is strongly disagree because he feels that he have a better idea rather than his other members. After the discussion, they are affected on that particular situation because sometimes in communication you cannot detect what are their thinking about. On that issue it show show reactive public opinion is it. Understanding in public opinion is more important so that you know how to come up with the problem.
